Casey Movsovitz-Nichols is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Rhode Island. She received her bachelor's of social work from Providence College and her master's of social work from Rhode Island College. She started her clinical journey working with children with significant trauma backgrounds and behavioral needs, foster families, and foster children in foster care and aging out of foster care. Casey has also had experience co-facilitating groups focused on parenting and substance use relapse prevention. Casey has also designed several groups, including a men's group focused on building interpersonal relationships and exploring vulnerability and emotional expression for men, and a group focused on moving towards body neutrality and acceptance of one's body as it is.

Casey utilizes various evidence-based approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and problem-solving techniques in her work with her clients.

Casey uses a person-in-environment perspective and strengths-based approach with the goal of helping clients better understand who they are and what shapes them. She hopes to empower clients to consider their values and take values-guided actions to influence their own lives and circumstances in meaningful ways. Casey maintains the belief that the client is the true expert in their own life, and she uses this belief to guide her practice.

Couples Counseling and Family Therapy

Individual clients often discuss a multitude of things in therapy sessions, including conflict between spouses, partners, and family members. It is often helpful for the individual client to have support around these conflicts through couples counseling or family therapy sessions. Casey offers limited couples counseling and family therapy to best support her individual clients' needs. She also has a wide variety of referral resources for individual clients should they need to continue couples counseling or family therapy sessions longer term.
